Watercolors: Simplified Spaces

This is an investigation of exploring primitive shapes and raw colors
to portray structure and harmony in our existing world.

Starting as a monochromatic photograph I take pictures in a common fashion by
choosing my composition in the viewfinder and then press the shutter. The transformation
occurs after I view the images either in print or on a monitor; the photograph is
only a blueprint for myself to follow and I delete the image once I have the
painting complete.

By taking a photograph and completely stripping it of non-essential items I am able
to break down the world around us and view it as pure structure.

Even though there is chaos, randomness, and order in our lives there seems to be an always
present balance that curiously takes part in our world.
